On August 16, CATL officially released the world’s first lithium iron phosphate 4C supercharged battery, Shenxing supercharged battery, which can achieve “charging for 10 minutes and driving 800 miles (range of about 400 kilometers)”.
According to insiders of CATL, Shenxing supercharged batteries can achieve fast charging in the full temperature range and achieve low temperatures such as normal temperature. In terms of battery life, Shenxing supercharged battery can be comparable to fuel vehicles, with a range of up to 700KM, and zero hundred acceleration performance does not attenuate in the case of low temperature power loss.It is reported that Shenxing supercharged batteries will be mass-produced at the end of 2023 and will be available in the first quarter of 2024.
Supercharged batteries will be available on a large scale by the end of the year
On July 6, at the 5th Global Automotive Technology Development Leaders Summit of the 2023 China Automotive Forum, Wu Kai, chief scientist of CATL, revealed that CATL’s new products can run 400 kilometers after 10 minutes of charging. On August 16, this new product, which has attracted the continuous attention of the industry, was finally unveiled.
At the press conference, Wu Kai said that as a science and technology, power batteries have two directions for development. The first is to achieve social innovation from 0 to 1, and continuously innovate in new materials and new structures. The second is to promote cutting-edge technology from pioneers to the public, the current long battery life of electric vehicles is basically solved, and rapid replenishment has become a problem that consumers are more concerned about.
The supercharged battery launched by CATL is to meet the needs of a wider range of consumers for electric vehicles. Prior to this, CATL has launched a 4C Kirin battery based on ternary lithium system. The Shenxing supercharged battery is the world’s first lithium iron phosphate 4C supercharged battery.
Recently, CATL has made frequent moves in the field of battery technology innovation. On August 14, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the new products of the 374th batch of “Road Motor Vehicle Manufacturers and Products Announcement” that Chery Star Tuxing Era and Zhijie S7 two models will be equipped with ternary lithium-ion and manganese iron phosphate lithium batteries produced by Jiangsu Times New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CATL.
Not only that, CATL’s layout in M3P batteries, condensed matter batteries, and sodium-ion batteries is also constantly consolidating its technical moat. According to the research report of Haitong Securities, CATL’s new technologies are progressing smoothly and at the leading level in the industry, and are expected to be industrialized one after another year, and the landing of the above new materials is conducive to the company’s profitability improvement and adapting to the diversified needs of customers.
